Ripples by Aya Lion is a composition for double bass, tuning forks, water bowl, and electronics.

The piece consists of a series of miniatures inviting the performers to stretch them over time towards a point that aspires to infinity, where they continue to resonate endlessly.

The tuning forks define the tonal center – a reference point from which one can drift away and return.

The sound moves between center and periphery, between order and dissolution.

Time in the piece is non-linear — each unit of time (a measure) is a circle that may begin at any point within its orbit.

Lingering within it opens a process of disintegration or melting, acceleration or slowing down, distancing, a change in sonic texture, or an inner movement of the performers.

The circle is not a closure but a rolling motion – an opening towards metamorphosis
