sound morphologies is an environmental listening walks project, combining art and science. It is a close encounter with our near-by surroundings through a geological perspective, listening and field recording practices. Throughout the walk we will practice several ways of listening and will pay close attention to geological and biological phenomenons around us, and how sound is manifest though them. We will extend our human listening capabilities through a "listening station" which will live broadcast sounds from special microphones recording information inside the water, the ground and the air. The sounds will be delivered through special headphones.

Michael Lazar is a geophysicist and an artist, and Maayan Tsadka is a composer and sound artist. They have been collaborating for several years in research, teaching and artistic practices. This project is an outcome of their collaboration around issues of sound, environment and science.
