Sound Morphologies

sound morphologies is an environmental listening walks project, combining art and science. It is a close encounter with our near-by surroundings through a geological perspective, listening and field recording practices. Throughout the walk we will practice several ways of listening and will pay close attention to geological and biological phenomenons around us, and how sound is manifest though them. We will extend our human listening capabilities through a "listening station" which will live broadcast sounds from special microphones recording information inside the water, the ground and the air. The sounds will be delivered through special headphones.

Michael Lazar is a geophysicist and an artist, and Maayan Tsadka is a composer and sound artist. They have been collaborating for several years in research, teaching and artistic practices. This project is an outcome of their collaboration around issues of sound, environment and science.

מורפולוגיות סאונד- הליכותהקשבה סביבתיות הינו פרוייקט המשלב בין תחומי המדע והאמנות, בין היכרות עם הסביבה הקרובה ותהליכי היווצרותה לבין פרקטיקות של הקשבה והקלטות שדה. במהלך הסיור נתנסה בדרכי האזנה שונות ונלמד על היווצרות תופעות סביבתיות, ביולוגיות וגיאולוגיות, וכיצד תופעות סאונד שונות באות לידי ביטוי דרך אלו. נרחיב את גבולות השמיעה האנושית באמצעות "תחנת האזנה" אשר תשדר בזמן אמת אינפורמציה ממיקרופונים מיוחדים המקליטים בתוך המים, באוויר ובאדמה ויושמעו דרך אוזניות ייעודיות.

מייקל לזר, גיאופיזיקאי ואמן, ומעיין צדקה, מוסיקאית, מלחינה ואמנית סאונד, משתפים פעולה מזה מספר שנים הן ביצירה, במחקר ובהוראה. הליכות הסאונד הן תוצאה של שיתוף פעולה זה הבא לידי ביטוי בחקירה של נקודות המפגש בין סאונד, סביבה ומדע.
