The opening concert of Musica Nova's 30th season incorporates pieces composed specifically for the Ensemble, by the accomplished experimental musicians Oded Assaf, Judith Shatin, and Noah Creshevsky, as well as a collection of recent pieces by young experimentalists from Europe, the USA, and Asia: Nomi Epstein, Matthew Shlomovitz, Peter Edwards, and Christian Jendreiko. The compositions relate to concepts that Musica Nova explores in recent years, having to do with performance, open-end scores, the limits of improvisation, and many others.
